The Regőczi Foundation, which helps the orphans of the coronavirus epidemic, is holding a charity auction again in Budapest at the Nagyházi Gallery and Auction House, where on December 10 you can bid on 169 items that former President János Áder and his wife Anita Herczegh received as gifts during their trips abroad and domestic meetings.
At Monday's press conference of the auction held to help the orphans of the coronavirus, Anita Herczegh, wife of János Áder, president of the board of trustees of the István Regőczi Foundation for the Orphans of the Corona Virus, emphasized that the number of needy people who came to them tripled during the year and a half of the foundation established to help the orphans of the Covid-19.
As he said, in the beginning 400-500 children needed support, today their number exceeds 1300. The aim of the foundation is to help those in need in the long term, not only until they reach adulthood, but also until they obtain a diploma or some professional qualification, he said.
"The task today is much bigger than when we decided to create the foundation. Not only because of the increase in the number of needy people, but also because of the difficulties caused by the economic situation, the need for donations is increasing, families have found themselves in a more difficult situation and monthly support in a predictable amount has become more and more important for them," added Anita Herczegh.
He pointed out that giving aid is made more difficult by the fact that inflation also affects donors. "Those who supported us this year may not be able to provide the same generous help next year," he explained.
He announced that at the charity auction it will be possible to bid on gifts received during the ten years of the presidential term.
Gallery manager Lőrinc Nagyházi announced that 169 lots will be auctioned at the December auction, with a total asking price of HUF 19 million.
He recalled that at the previous auction, 222 lots went under the hammer with a total asking price of HUF 4.5 million. The auction ended with over HUF 18 million, producing an increase of almost four and a half times, he emphasized.
The managing director of the auction, Soóky Marietta, drew attention to three items: a date palm ornament made of gold and a Lange & Söhne men's watch, the starting price of which is HUF 7 million each. And the gold medal received from Pope Francis can be sold from HUF 1.2 million.
The exhibition of the charity auction opens on Friday in the Nagyházi Galéria Auction House.
