The iconic building of the Liget project won the Architectural Design of the Year award at the most prestigious overseas architectural competition, the Architecture MasterPrize (AMP), announced Városliget Zrt. to MTI.

The Architecture Masterprize award was created by the award's founders in 2015 to promote the recognition and presentation of quality architecture worldwide. The prize is awarded for unique projects that stand out among contemporary architectural creations with their novelty, creativity and innovation.

This year, nominations for the award came from 65 countries. The winner was selected by a jury consisting of renowned architects and experts in theoretical and practical fields through multiple rounds of voting.

In their explanation of the House of Hungarian Music, they referred to the harmony of the building and nature, the bold use of color, and emphasized the acoustics of the concert hall, the announcement emphasizes. During the evaluation, the jury highlighted the inspiring and innovative nature of the city park building designed by the Japanese Sou Fujimoto.

László Baán, ministerial commissioner of the project, received the recognition on Thursday at a ceremony held at the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao. According to the announcement, the ministerial commissioner said at the award ceremony that the Liget Budapest project is today Europe's largest urban development project with cultural content. The development started in 2011, keeping in mind the traditions of the park, but rethinking the district in a 21st century way.

The ministerial commissioner emphasized that the project already has significant results, but it is not yet close to the end: its largest and most important development, the construction of the almost fifty thousand square meter New National Gallery, designed by the Priztker prize-winning Japanese architecture firm SANAA, is among the tasks of the coming years.

At the award ceremony, László Baán thanked the designer of the House of Hungarian Music, Suo Fujimoto, whose architectural masterpiece of outstanding value in the world enriches the special architectural heritage of the Hungarian capital.

It is explained in the announcement: the realization of the House of Hungarian Music has been receiving serious attention worldwide since the announcement of the results of the design competition, and has received numerous awards at international architectural and cultural competitions.
