The SZBU struck again in Transcarpathia: now they were looking for signs of "subversive activity" in nuns. According to the authorities, the aim of the action was to prevent the monastery near Szolyva from being used for pro-Russian propaganda.

On Wednesday, the Ukrainian Security Service (SZBU) conducted a house search at the headquarters of the Cyril and Methodius order of women belonging to the Moscow Patriarchate near Szolyva in the Munkács district, Kárpáti Igaz Szó reported.

According to the Transcarpathian newspaper, the SZBU announced that an anti-espionage operation was carried out in a women's monastery under the jurisdiction of the diocese of Münkac. According to the press service of the SZBU, the authorities

the house search was conducted as part of the fight against "subversive activity" against the Ukrainian state.

It was announced that the purpose of the action was to prevent the monastery near Szolyva from being used for pro-Russian propaganda and from hiding enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups or weapons there. UNIAN also added that

the monastic order had a close relationship with Viktor Medvedchuk, a pro-Russian Ukrainian opposition politician suspected of treason, and his wife, Oksana Marcenko.

According to the news agency, the couple regularly supported the nuns financially, and Russian Patriarch Kirill was said to have been mentioned often during services held there.

As previously reported by Mandiner, the Ukrainian Security Service took down the Hungarian flag with coat of arms, the Hungarian coat of arms and the text of the National Anthem from the wall of the Tisza Salamon school a few years ago.
