On Friday, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held talks with Robert Golob, Prime Minister of Slovenia, at a working lunch in Maribor, Slovenia, Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister's press chief, informed MTI.

Viktor Orbán and Robert Golob also stated that the bilateral relations between Hungary and Slovenia are not burdened by any problematic issues. The two leaders stood for the further economic development of the border regions.

The meeting, which was also attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó, discussed the challenges facing European energy security. In light of this, the connection of the electricity network of the two countries, whose work was completed, was evaluated as a huge success, and on this occasion a ceremony was held yesterday afternoon in Cirkovce, Slovenia, in the presence of the two prime ministers.

At the handover ceremony of the Cirkocve-Pince electricity transmission line, Viktor Orbán stated that the connection of the energy infrastructure between Hungary and Slovenia also symbolizes the two peoples' hope for the future.

The Prime Minister emphasized: previously, the peoples living in the former Yugoslav territory and the Hungarians were cut off from each other. For this reason, the Hungarians built all relations in an East-West context, be it gas, oil, or electricity.

This separation remained even after the end of Yugoslavia, and Hungary's only neighbor was Slovenia, with which neither the gas, nor the oil, nor the electricity system was connected until now, Viktor Orbán added.
