The deputy faction leader of Fidesz filed a complaint with the National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) regarding the foreign campaign financing of the left.
In his video statement on Saturday, János Halász stated that there are no end of questions regarding the foreign campaign financing of the left, even though the analytical and evaluation work of several authorities and secret services is also ongoing.
He added that the situation is not made easier by the fact that Péter Márky-Zay and other left-wing actors are regularly involved in contradictions.
"At the beginning of the campaign, they kept quiet about the rolling dollars, then they talked about hundreds of millions, and in the end it was revealed that it was three billion forints"
- the Fidesz politician listed the examples of contradictions, and then added that Péter Márky-Zay's version of the left-wing prime minister's candidate about micro-donations was refuted by the sponsor, Action for Democracy: he admitted that institutional donors had also sent money to Hungary during the election during the campaign.
According to János Halász, the organization linked to the chief adviser of Mayor Gergely Karácsony supported the Mindinki Magyarországért Movement (MMM) led by Péter Marki-Zay with HUF 1 billion 848 million and transferred significant sums to several recipients in Hungary.
He explained that Oraculum 2020 Kft., which is responsible for expiring articles, received HUF one billion, while Gordon Bajnai's DatAdat received HUF 148 million from the foreign NGO. János Halász also called it remarkable that Márky-Zay's movement initiated transfers in the total value of HUF 1.4 billion to DatAdat's Austrian parent company, but also sent HUF 11.7 million to the Hungarian company.
According to the politician, it is worth examining what kind of real performance, verifiable with an invoice, is behind the payments,
because in the absence of these, a well-founded suspicion of a crime, specifically budget fraud, may arise.
János Halász stated that he expects NAV to clarify the case and, if necessary, to take criminal action in the most serious scandal of the past three decades.
