At the request of Klára Dobrev, the EP vice-president, who was arrested for corruption, condemned Hungary two weeks ago!

The "vanguard" of the fight against corruption, Eva Kaili, one of the leaders of the European Socialist Party ("Socialists and Democrats" (S&D), which teaches other countries to be off their high horse and is also actively involved in attacks on Hungary, was arrested. The leader of the Greek Socialists' faction in the European Parliament , Mrs. Gyurcsány's party partner and comrade in Brussels, was an important politician of the Greek Socialist Party (PASOK), not to mention the vice president of the European Parliament. Incidentally, two weeks ago Eva Kaili was still dealing with Hungary at Mrs. Gyurcsány's request, so to speak... She was brought in on Friday and officially arrested on Sunday. dailies know that 600,000 euros in cash were found in his house. Le Soir hinted that he may have received the corruption money in order to pass economic and political laws in the European Parliament that suit Qatar's interests. It is not difficult to find an analogy between the Hungarian dollar left and the scandal in Brussels The left is the same everywhere: it receives money from abroad to serve foreign interests.

In Le Figaro's assessment, the scandal involving the highest leadership of the European Parliament is considered "resounding". As part of the investigation, on Friday, December 9, four more people linked to the European Parliament were arrested, as part of an investigation into corruption and money laundering involving Qatar. According to police suspicions and a statement from the Belgian federal prosecutor's office, the Gulf country, which is currently hosting the soccer World Cup,

paid significant sums of money or given gifts to officials with a decisive political or strategic position and thus influenced the economic and political decisions of the European Parliament."

The task of the corrupt parliamentary officials was to improve Qatar's international reputation in exchange for illegal benefits, especially regarding the labor rights abuses that arose around the hosting of the World Cup and the construction of the stadiums.

Many articles and reports were published about how the Qatari authorities treated the foreign workers who built the facilities (according to some claims 4 million) cruelly, and did not respect either the most basic human rights or the minimum ecological standards.

According to some reports, thousands of workers may have died on construction sites in Qatar. Kaili's husband, the parliamentary assistant of the European Socialists (Socialists and Democrats (S&D)) group, is suspected of complicity.

Two days earlier, during a house search, the Belgian police found 600,000 euros in cash from the vice-president of the European Parliament, and Kalii's father - the elderly man had just fled - found a suitcase full of cash.

In the meantime, Eva Kaili's Greek "mother party", the socialist PASOK, announced that it would expel Kaili from the party, and the President of the European Parliament, Malta's Roberta Metsola, temporarily suspended the socialist politician. They try to pretend they have nothing to do with the downtrodden, corrupt vice president.

But who is this socialist politician, whose astonishing corruption scandal has shaken the democratic principles that the European Parliament constantly slanders?

Architect turned television presenter

The well-known saying about left-wing, socialist politicians that "she was everything but a hanged man" is also true for Eva Kailira. Kaili was born in 1978 in one of the largest Greek port cities, Thessaloniki. The strikingly pretty, blond, as Le Figaro puts it, "radiantly" blue-eyed woman studied architecture at the local university named after Aristotle, but did not have a spectacular career in her profession. In 2005, at the age of 27, he therefore decided to study journalism. At the same time, he was employed as a newsreader in the popular Mega TV channel, where he became a real celebrity and gained national recognition.

Although at first it seemed that she did not aspire to the higher levels of politics, Eva Kaili showed a serious interest in Greek domestic politics and major diplomatic issues from the age of 20. In 1998, when he was an architecture student, he was elected to the city council as a member of the PASOK (Pánhellenic Socialist Movement) socialist party, at least this is what his website testifies to, which of course has no trace of the gross corruption scandal that has just broken out.

Although he did not get a parliamentary seat in the 2004 Greek parliamentary elections, his political career began to rise like a comet three years later, and he became a member of the Greek parliament at the age of just 29. At the age of 33, he returned to school at the University of Piraeus, where he studied international and European politics. His university background and, not least, his loyalty to the Socialist Party were amply rewarded when he entered the European Parliament in 2014. One of Kaili's research areas has been focusing on new technologies and artificial intelligence for many years, thanks to which he is also the chairman of the advisory committee of the Paris-based Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) dealing with artificial intelligence and blockchain technology, of course for extra money.

It is quite possible that the criminal proceedings and indictments that have just been launched could put an end to his spectacular and rapid political rise.

The peculiarity of the case is that at the beginning of November, before the start of the World Cup in Qatar, Eva Kaili met with Qatari Minister of Labor Ali bin Samikh Al Marri. On behalf of the European Union, the Greek socialist representative welcomed Qatar's commitment to the "continuation of labor reforms", then barely a month later, on November 22, at the vice-president's podium of the European Parliament, he already spoke about "Qatar playing a leading role in labor law reforms" ".

In the light of the police investigation, the 600,000 euros in cash found on Kaili and the suitcase worth of euros seized from her father suggest something completely different, as suggested by the rather cautious portrait of Le Figaro. But it is also worth looking at who could have been Kaili's companions, whose role must be clarified by the prosecutor's investigation that is now starting.

In the case, Pier-Antonio Panzeri, a former member of the Socialist European Parliament, who is currently the president of the non-governmental organization (NGO) "Fight Impunity", Francesco Giorgi, an assistant of the European Socialist Party (S&D), who is Kaili's husband, Luca Visentini, were arrested in the case. the Secretary General of the International Trade Union Confederation, closely linked to the international left, and Niccolò Figà-Talamanca, director of the NGO "No Peace Without Justice".

The office of Marie Arena, the assistant of the Belgian (unsurprisingly) member of the European Parliament, who is also a socialist member of the European Parliament, was also placed under a legal lock, who, according to the police's assumptions, was also involved in the case. The same happened to Marc Tarabella, the assistant of the representative of the Progressive Socialists and Democrats party, who, according to press reports, became unreachable after the office was closed. He is the representative who defended Qatar at the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on November 21, and even claimed that Qatar's labor law problems will be solved by the World Cup...he did not talk about how. But obviously, it was worth it for him to say that.
