The number of appearances of the Hungarian Prime Minister is "8-10 times greater than that of the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, which is nothing," said Péter Tölgyessy in an interview with Márton Gulyás.

The former SZDSZ politician analyzed the domestic and foreign political situation and the challenges facing the government for an hour and a half. He described the current situation with a meteorological analogy: " the clouds are gathering, and it is not yet known whether a south wind will come and blow them away and the sky will clear, or a huge storm will come and there will be a huge rumble" .

According to Tölgyessy, inflation, the budget deficit, the endangerment of jobs, and the EU, which is withholding EU funds, must be fought at the same time, and so many problems have never gathered around the head of Fidesz.

At the same time, Fidesz has already proven that it is capable of successful crisis management - it did so between 2010 and 2013 - but the question is whether the tool it came up with - economic policy based on growth - will work in the current severe inflation, he added.

Tölgyessy believes that inflation is the biggest threat to the government. According to the analyst, the current situation in Hungary should be compared with that of the Visegrad countries. In the Czechs and Poles, inflation is now 16-17 percent, ours is 23.1 percent. This 6-7 percent surplus is not the war or sanctions inflation, but the extra inflation of the Orbán regime, this is the Orbán inflation, if you like, he said.

One of the interesting parts of the program was when ex-politician Viktor Orbán talked about his international role.

Whether the left likes it or not, it has become a world political factor," said Tölgyessy about Orbán. In response to a question, he added: The world press is full of Orbán.

" Compared to the size of the country, his number of appearances is an order of magnitude higher, which is roughly the same as that of the current Italian prime minister. It doesn't reach the number one person in France, but it is 8-10 times bigger than that of the prime minister of the Netherlands, which is nothing," said Tölgyessy.

Tölgyessy does not see much chance that the domestic opposition would be able to overthrow the Orbán regime, and in his opinion the teachers' movement is not capable of doing so either. The voters did not want this opposition to lead the country in 2022, and the opinion of the majority even now is that this opposition cannot be entrusted with the country during such a crisis, he said.
