The funds necessary for the safe operation of the country are available for next year, the financing situation of the budget is stable, said Minister of Finance Mihály Varga at the press conference on the financing of the central budget for 2023 in Budapest.
He emphasized that even in the unfavorable international environment, the government continues to reduce the deficit and the national debt.
The budget deficit will be 3.5 percent in 2023, after the expected 4.9 percent for this year, and the public debt will decrease from 76.8 percent at the end of last year to 74 percent by the end of 2022, he confirmed.
We expect that there will be a payment from the EU already in January, the agricultural subsidies will certainly come, the payment of other operational programs and recovery funds also depends on the Commission, but we are confident that these funds can arrive even in the first half of the year, said the finance minister.
"We expect that the price of gas below 150 euros will probably be maintained in 2023 as well, and the price of electricity and oil may also decrease - said Mihály Varga. The minister emphasized that they are still expecting a 3.5% GDP deficit next year, and are committed to keeping the goal. At the same time, the amendment of next year's budget will be published by the end of the year," he added.
