Katalin Karikó received the Semmelweis Award, the most prestigious Hungarian health award, in recognition of her work and life. Miklós Kásler presented the award, which he also reported on his social media page.

"There is an important parallel between the work of Semmelweis and Kati. Both of them believed in their premise and, despite the many difficulties, unwaveringly practiced their profession for the benefit of patients and all of humanity. In the end, time and facts proved them. I was deeply moved by the thought that both of us could have started our professional careers in Szeged, not knowing then that we would see each other decades later on such a significant occasion.

I congratulate you from the bottom of my heart and trust that, in addition to countless national and international recognitions, the Nobel Prize committee will also make a decision worthy of the scientific achievement! - the minister of the Ministry of Human Resources wrote to the post.
