The eulogy of the Regőczi Foundation Attila Fülöp, the state secretary responsible for care policy, which you can read below:
"Amidst the outbreak and spread of the coronavirus epidemic in Hungary, it was clear that a new kind of solidarity would be needed in this dramatic struggle. The Regőczi Foundation was founded by the former President of the Republic János Áder and his wife, dr. It was created by Mrs. Anita Herczegh with the aim of providing long-term and personalized care to Hungarian children and young people who have lost one or both of their parents as a result of the covid epidemic. They provide help that can be a solution until the child concerned reaches adulthood or completes his studies, starts working and is able to take care of himself.
During her national tour, Mrs. Anita Herczegh personally assessed the needs of the needy, got information, and built relationships with those involved in the assistance, the employees of the state and local government organizations, and the representatives of the charitable organizations with whom the Foundation jointly planned the assistance.
The Foundation thus provided financial assistance to more than 800 children in 2021, totaling more than HUF 167 million. In 2022, more and more applications will continue to arrive, this year the foundation provided support in the amount of HUF 434 million to 1,936 children and their families. While in the first year they tried to ease the difficulties of families with a one-time, lump-sum benefit, in 2022 regular subsidies began to be established. In addition to financial support, the foundation also deals with mental and spiritual assistance, camping, vacations, and connecting donations and needs.
Crisis situations are those where the character of a person, a community or a country is instinctively revealed. The foundation set an example of unity, and we learned that we are strong together.
We are only strong together.
Knowing no obstacles, the foundation alleviates the pain caused by the pandemic in the hearts of orphaned children.
Dear Mr. President, Dear Mrs. Anita, we would also like to thank you for the faith-giving, community-strengthening and community-shaping, non-stop work that we have experienced on the part of the foundation over the past two years, may God keep the foundation in this for a long time to come."
