The Brussels sanctions policy is flawed and self-defeating, so it must be changed, the sanctions must be abolished, and the corruption machine in Brussels must be dismantled, said Tamás Deutsch, head of the Fidesz European Parliament (EP) group on Wednesday.
According to the press release of the Fidesz European Parliament group sent to MTI, Tamás Deutsch emphasized that the group will continue to stand up in the European Parliament for the change of the failed, self-defeating Brussels sanctions policy. Supporters of sanctions policy consider the developing economic crises affecting the national economies of the EU due to sanctions, skyrocketing energy prices and skyrocketing inflation to be merely collateral losses. He declared: it's time for Europe to finally represent its own interests, so that the bureaucracy in Brussels can see that the sanctions policy has failed. It causes greater economic damage to European national economies than to the target of the sanctions.
Our most important task is to be part of the sane minority in the European Parliament and make our voice heard, which is in favor of ending the sanctions, he said. Tamás Deutsch emphasized: the Hungarian government fulfilled its commitment, the agreement with Brussels was reached at the end of a successful series of negotiations, thereby removing the legal and political obstacles in the way of access to EU funds. In 2023, EU funds will be available to Hungary, and agriculture can count on subsidies of an unprecedented scale, he said. The head of the delegation drew attention to the fact that it is still expected that Brussels wants to put new obstacles in the way of the actual use of EU funds. However, the point is that Hungary has fulfilled all its commitments, the EU funds are available, development tenders can be announced, he underlined. In connection with the Brussels corruption case, the Fidesz MEP emphasized that the Brussels corruption machinery must be dismantled. He noted that all the MEPs who have been suspected so far belong to the socialist faction, Dobrévék and Ujhelyi, faction members of the dollar left. According to his words, this is only the tip of the iceberg, Brussels sources talk about the involvement of additional MEPs.
It is impossible for the Brussels bureaucracy and Brussels politicians to change this system, which is useful for them from a power-political point of view. Only we, the European voters, can change this system in 2024 - stated the head of the delegation, and then added: it is cause for optimism that the revelation could lead to a major European turnaround in 2024.
