The matter of national minorities is not an internal matter, but a European matter - declared the Prime Minister's Commissioner for Autonomy on Saturday in Budapest.

Katalin Szili, in her presentation on national minority protection and autonomy at the general meeting of the Association of Hungarian Organizations of Western Europe (NYEOMSZSZ), emphasized that it is important to include the national adjective in the discourse on the European rights of indigenous minorities.

In the European Union, they are happy to deal with all minorities, but they do not want to deal with indigenous minorities, which make up 10 percent of the population of the European community, about 50 million people.

János Árpád Potápi, the State Secretary responsible for national policy at the Prime Minister's Office, proposed the transformation of the NIEOMSZSZ from a Western European organization into a pan-European one, and called for the inclusion of Central European and Balkan countries in the organization.
