Instead of political work, all that remains is aimless hatred and pandering to progressive interest groups in the West, Ervin Nagy told Magyar Nemzet, evaluating the current situation of the left. The XXI. Evaluating the political challenges of the new year, the analyst of the Szazad Institute emphasized that the goal would be renewal on the left, but there is no faint sign of this. He also indicated that political stability and the preservation of sovereignty are the most important things for the governing parties in 2023.

For the government, preserving political stability will be the biggest challenge, and the success of the responses to the crisis will be decisive. It is already apparent that the Orbán government is not drifting, but acting, i.e. entering the crisis with an idea of a way out. However, the real exam is yet to come, because in 2023, as so many times in the past twelve years, the results so far must be preserved. On the other hand, the left will mostly have to deal with itself in the coming year - said Ervin Nagy when asked by our newspaper about why the new year is important for which political force.

The XXI. The Szazad Institute analyst reminded us: they have to respond to an unprecedented scandal,

In 2022, they failed not only politically, but also morally when they accepted financial support from abroad.

The best option would be for the opposition to prepare for real renewal, but we don't see even a faint sign of that. Ervin Nagy emphasized that there is more alibis going on, and instead of political work, there is only aimless hatred and pandering to progressive interest groups in the West. He also noted that it would be better for the governing parties to compete with a new, nationally based left that is able to present a viable alternative, as this would strengthen political creativity. And the Mi Hazánk Movement has to look for new topics, because by the end of the year their politics are a bit "tired".

The struggle for dominance between Momentum and the Democratic Coalition has already begun, and it will also be decisive in the year ahead. The Ferenc Gyurcsánys are a step ahead, which is why Anna Donáth is being reactivated now. After all, Ferenc Gelencsér failed - Ervin Nagy pointed out that as the 2024 elections approach, the opposition on the left may intensify.

Known: thanks to last year's amendment to the Basic Law, the European Parliament and local government voting will be held on the same day in 2024. All of this raises the question of what strategy the left will choose for the two votes. The XXI. According to the Szazad Institute expert, the other opposition parties - with the exception of the Mi Hazánk Mozgalom - can only hope that there will be some form of cooperation in 2024, so they will have to carefully enter the competition, but they will have to accept many conflicts, because if they don't, it will be meaningless their existence becomes – Who would vote for a small party that says the same thing as DK or Momentum? Ervin Nagy asked.

Speaking about the challenges facing the governing parties, he highlighted that

in 2023, the right will continue to fight for sovereignty with the EU bureaucracy, the western progressive and left-wing groups, and their domestic cells.

On the left, with the return of Anna Donáth, a somewhat equal struggle between Momentum and DK may develop, but we are still talking about a struggle between two parties that can only occasionally reach ten percent support, he added. He emphasized: the other opposition parties, such as MSZP, Jobbik, LMP and Párbeszéd, only exist on paper.
