If there is a virtue that deserves the reward of survival, it is sticking to yourself, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said on Sunday in Szatmárcsek.

At the ecumenical service held on the occasion of the Day of Hungarian Culture, the prime minister emphasized in his ceremonial speech: calls that tempt us to "stand on the good side of history" cannot trap us . He put it like this, "this is why we don't get dizzy in the whirlwind of an increasingly bloody war, that's why we want a ceasefire, negotiations and peace" . The Hungarians have learned that the good and bad sides of history will be determined by the great powers that will later prevail, and they are not the least bit interested in what is good or bad for the Hungarians, he believed.

According to Viktor Orbán, this is why "we must remain on the Hungarian side of history even in the most complicated and difficult situations" . The prime minister declared: "we say who can come in and who can stay here; who can live with us and who can't, and we also want to determine how our lives can connect with our neighbors" .
"We are not better or worse, but different" , and this difference is given by Hungarian culture.

It is worthy and fair that the day of Hungarian culture is the day the National Anthem was born - the Prime Minister declared on Sunday, at the ecumenical service held in Szatmárcsek on the two hundredth anniversary of the completion of the National Anthem.

Viktor Orbán said: in a thousand-year perspective, there is no other work of Hungarian culture that can lift hearts like the National Anthem.
If we were to "give our heads" to the impossible task of condensing everything that is Hungarian and that makes Hungarians Hungarian into a single work, then the National Anthem should be chosen, added the Prime Minister.
The National Anthem reminds us that although the number and extent of our sins may be high, the Lord has not wiped us off the face of the earth, we have earned it so that we can have a future, said Viktor Orbán in his speech at the ecumenical service held on the occasion of the Day of Hungarian Culture in Szatmárcsek on Sunday.

The Prime Minister said: The national anthem reminds us that we Hungarians, like all Christian people who understand what sin and forgiveness are, have a good reason to repent. "We Hungarians are not innocent either. Our faults and disabilities are also numerous. The only question is what to do with this recognition and admission." he added.

He put it like this: “Maybe we should kneel in the middle of the football field? Or should we tear down the statues of our great ancestors? Shall we deny and erase our thousand-year-old culture? Or do we let the self-appointed, stateless and liberal censors sift through and rewrite the history of Hungarians?" He pointed out that Kölcsey says something different, he writes down the most important phrase in Hungarian historical literature: "This people has already sinned against the past and the future."

Viktor Orbán stated: read from a Christian perspective, this is not a "bonus, free ticket or excuse" in case of committing further crimes. "With a Christian spirit, this sentence means that although the number and extent of our sins may be high, the Good Lord has not wiped us off the face of the earth. Even if he punished us, he allows us to continue our history. The only reason for this can be that our virtues and merits are numerous, that is, we could earn them so that we could have a future," he said.

In his speech, the Prime Minister sent his greetings to the "Pannonian city of Veszprém", which is now the cultural capital of Europe, proving the statement of former Prime Minister József Antall that "we are Hungarians, therefore Europeans" .
