From the point of view of Europe's energy security, Azerbaijan is of great importance, from where gas can also arrive in Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary and Slovakia. However, this requires significant developments, for the implementation of which the four countries requested support from Brussels.

The cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary has reached a strategic level, Péter Szijjártó stated at the press conference following his meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Mikayil Jabbarov. The head of the ministry emphasized: the world has changed a lot in the last decade, and due to the energy crisis affecting Europe, the importance of Azerbaijan has increased in particular.

"New sources of energy and energy transport routes are needed in order to ensure the security of supply," the minister said, then emphasized: Azerbaijan is the best option in the short and medium term. The government aims to include Azeri gas in the Hungarian supply as soon as possible. However, this requires significant infrastructural developments, including the construction of new interconnectors.

In order to finance the investment, together with our country, Bulgaria, Romania and Slovakia turned to the European Commission for support. "Now it turns out that Brussels only talked about the importance of diversification, or is it really ready to take action," noted Péter Szijjártó.

Mikayil Jabbarov highly valued the friendship of the Hungarians and emphasized the importance of business relations.
