We know, we experience, we see that the path to peace depends only on the will of the USA and Russia, the two great powers. However, the Ukrainian, Russian and Hungarian victims will never get their lives back.
Immediate peace negotiations and a cease-fire in the meantime are in the unquestionable interest of all the peoples and families of Europe. It mostly belongs to the Ukrainians who have been hit by aggression.
No city in Europe wants to suffer the fate of Nagasaki and Hiroshima!
The continuation of the war is grist to the mill of the arms dealers, while the population and economy of our continent suffer. What's more, NATO's hitherto solid alliance may weaken further due to Turkey's behavior.
The position of the CÖF-CÖKA is clear: Europe cannot be a testing ground built for testing weapons. The arms shipments of some countries presuppose the death of tens of thousands of innocent people. At the same time, they can also cause a boomerang effect.
We invite the European Union, the European Council, which is at the head of this, to take control of the peace negotiations, because the will of the peoples of the countries gathered in the alliance clearly obliges it to do so. The European Council should call the warring parties to the white table, and the beneficiaries of the sanctions should be warned to moderate. The EU's sanctions so far have complemented the armed intervention that fueled the violence. Looking ahead, however, they can provide a bargaining position for peace negotiations and lead both warring parties to a solution and a peace treaty.
