A little before 2 p.m., the former prime minister took the stage in front of a multitude of Hungarian and EU flags. First, the participants of the congress remembered László Kordás, and then they played Örömóda.

"It is the nature of our profession that we are used to fighting. I too have struggled a lot in the last two decades. I'm still struggling, I've had a roommate for a few days: it's called the flu. For now, we are tied," Gyurcsány began in a surprisingly low voice, the cause of which was presumably the aforementioned illness.

" When we talk about Europe, we don't talk about Brussels, not even Berlin, Rome, Paris, but we talk about how I want to live. We are talking about a culture of respect ," Gyurcsány stated, adding: they represent a patriotic policy.

"Yes, there is a special Hungarian interest, it must be protected. But there is also European politics. Our policy rests on these two pillars," he continued. We want a Western, democratic, European Hungary, and we will not give up on that - he stated, then quoted Lord Palmerston's words that Great Britain has no friends or eternal enemies, only interests.

"If the thought is fragile, life is fragile, you can make a person do many things. I see that they have made the Hungarians fragile, they have made them do many things in recent years. After Bucsa, they still do not understand that it is not possible to support the shameless behavior of the Hungarian government. Since Bucsa, the Russian president has been a war criminal," said Gyurcsány.

Today, Hungary is lonelier than ever in recent decades. The Hungarian people are more defenseless, the government has failed them. That is why we stand against this government - he continued, then turned to the domestic political analysis.

According to him, Fidesz cannot be defeated "if we surrender to them".

"Whoever says that the future of the school, the length of waiting lists, and the establishment of battery factories are not political issues, does not want to defeat, but to convince Fidesz, and whoever wants to convince Fidesz wants to keep Fidesz," said the former prime minister. He added: politics is about managing our common affairs, it is not possible to single out one problem from this. Continuing his train of thought, he stated: anti-party populism is dangerous because it proclaims that there is no need for parties that want to replace the system. " However, the system can only be replaced if we face the whole. There is no third way: either with him or against him. There is only one correct attitude: complete opposition to the government and complete identification with the country," declared Gyurcsány, who also sent a message to Fidesz supporters: in his opinion, supporting this system is more than a crime: it is a shame.

"Shame on you!" Gyurcsány told Fidesz.
