As the opening of the political season, Fidesz-KDNP will hold a faction meeting in Balatonfüred. At the meeting before the start of the spring session of the parliament, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will probably give an assessment of the situation and talk about, among other things, the Russian-Ukrainian war, as well as the failed Brussels sanctions. Máté Kocsis, Fidesz, and István Simicskó, KDNP faction leader, are expected to present the results of the deliberations on the second day of the faction meeting.

The Fidesz-KDNP season-opening outdoor faction meeting begins today in Balatonfüred. According to Atv.hu, based on the preliminary plans, on the first day of the two-day event, Viktor Orbán will give a political-strategic situation assessment to the representative groups of the governing parties, the central element of which will be the Russian-Ukrainian war, the failed Brussels sanctions, the economic crisis caused by the war, the issue of inflation and it may be a matter of EU resources.

It is known: in the annual review held last Saturday, the Prime Minister spoke about how 2022 was the most difficult and 2023 will be the most dangerous year since the regime change. He also emphasized that two enemies, two dangers are lurking for us. One is war, the other is inflation.

It is already a tradition for the governing parties to hold an external faction meeting before the start of the current parliamentary session - the spring session of the Parliament begins on February 27 - where Viktor Orbán outlines the most important challenges of the next period. On the second day of the meeting, Máté Kocsis, Fidesz, and István Simicskó, KDNP faction leader, regularly report on the event at a press conference.

Last September, representatives of Fidesz and KDNP held a meeting in Balatonalmádi, and the most important topic was the issue of sanctions. Máté Kocsis then announced that the two factions had asked the government to launch a national consultation on the issue of energy sanctions. In February of last year, they also held an external faction meeting in Balatonfüred, where the most important topic was the preparation for the parliamentary election campaign and the child protection referendum.
