As long as our country does not receive the resources it deserves from Brussels, the majority of citizens would not give more financial resources to Kiev to continue the war, but the proportion of those who would not be willing to finance the Ukrainian armaments is even greater.

The vast majority of Hungarians agree with the position expressed in the national consultation: two-thirds (69 percent) of them oppose financial support for Ukraine until Hungary receives the EU funds it is entitled to, and three-quarters (74 percent) of them reject the financing of arming the Ukrainians with an additional 20 billion euros. it is clear from the latest survey of the Viewpoint Institute.

The Hungarian government launched a national consultation for the thirteenth time since 2010 in order to arm itself with the opinions of Hungarians on the main controversial issues with the European Commission.

Two of the eleven questions of the consultation concern financial assistance to Ukraine. The leadership of the EU in Brussels wants to support Ukraine with an additional 50 billion euros, which the Hungarian government will not support until Hungary receives the EU funds due to it. In addition, the European Union would spend an additional 20 billion euros on arming Ukraine, against which plan the Hungarian government would rather support initiatives promoting a ceasefire.

"It is an important question what the Hungarians think about these issues, which is why the Viewpoint Institute was interested in whether or not the Hungarians agree with the EU proposals"

- can be read in a survey published on the institute's website, according to the data of which, while the leadership of the European Union in Brussels wants to support Ukraine with an additional 50 billion euros from member states' additional contributions, more than two-thirds of Hungarians (69 percent) do not agree with additional financial support until Hungary receives it to European Union sources, and only a fifth of them (22 percent) would consider this acceptable.

The unity of the government party voters (94 percent disagree) on the issue is not surprising, but at the same time, the left-wing voters are divided on this issue as well.

Four out of ten (38 percent) agree with the government's position, and there are only slightly more (45 percent) who would support further financing of Ukraine even at the price of renouncing Hungarian funds. Mi Hazánk voters are less divided on the issue, the majority of them (81 percent) oppose the Brussels proposal, compared to 15 percent who agree with it.

There are more people in all prominent social groups who oppose financing Ukraine, including those from the capital (46 percent) and those with higher education (52 percent).

Three-quarters of Hungarians (74 percent) do not agree with the European Union member states giving an additional 20 billion euros to arm Ukraine, and barely a fifth of them (19 percent) agree with this proposal. However, not only the pro-government voters (95 percent), but also the relative majority of leftists (48 percent) agree with the pro-peace stance of the Hungarian government.

compared to the minority of leftists who agree with the Brussels proposal (41 percent).

It is also an unpopular proposal among Mi Hazánk voters, 89 percent of them oppose it, and only 7 percent agree with the purchase of weapons.

Even among those with a higher degree of education (58 percent) and residents of the capital (54 percent), who generally agree with the EU's position in greater proportion, there is a majority of those who oppose the financing of armaments, and there is no prominent social group on this issue that would agree with new financial support for the war effort.
