Despite the difficult economic situation, the same budget as last year, HUF 4.3 billion, is available for the National Talent Program (NTP) this year, the State Secretary for Families of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation announced at a press conference in Budapest on Thursday.

Ágnes Hornung pointed out that the government has long been committed to supporting talent, since the NTP started 14 years ago, they have supported almost 19,000 applications for about HUF 33 billion, they help 300-350,000 children and young people from kindergarten to adulthood every year.

The special feature of the program is that, in addition to the significant budget support, the one percent donations from taxpayers form the basis of the budget, the Hungarians have so far supported talent management with more than 17.5 billion forints, explained the state secretary.

He added that the so-called second one percent of the tax can be offered for the subsidy at the technical number 1823.

Ágnes Hornung also spoke about the fact that the role and professional work of communities in nurturing talent is essential for outstanding young people to achieve results, so this year, in addition to individual applications, special attention is being paid to the talent support work of associations, organizations and institutions.

Embracing talent is a common national interest and a long-term investment, the state secretary emphasized.

Pianist Misi Boros, this year's main patron of the National Talent Program, emphasized that talent alone is not enough, in addition to work, perseverance and enthusiasm, a support environment is also very important, which, in addition to parents, teachers and mentors, the NTP can to assure.
