The plans for the Sokoró Gate, which will be the largest Székely gate in the world, were officially presented. According to the plans, the gate will be about ten and a half meters high and 16 meters wide. 28 square meters of carving will be visible on its surface, which will include, among other things, the coats of arms of the sixty-four historical counties. Based on the idea of ​​the organizers, an additional special feature of the gate would be if the coat of arms of each county was made by a woodcarver living in the area of ​​the given county - strengthening the message of unity.

The construction dreamed up for Sokorópátka will also be considered special because it will be Hungary's first Székely gate under which road traffic passes. I would like to implement the initiative through civil cooperation. The mastermind of the Székely gate, Péter Vajda, spoke on the Győr-Moson-Sopron county news portal, Kisalföld, that they would like to create a park next to the gate, and for this purpose they also purchased a three thousand square meter area.

The building will be Hungary's first Székely gate under which road traffic passes. I would like to implement the grandiose gate through civil cooperation.

The president of the Sokorói Landscape Association emphasized that the investment will be realized from HUF thirty million, for which they received many offers. In addition to the financial ones, there were also local entrepreneurs who wanted to help with the construction of the gate with raw materials, expertise or work.

The necessary wood is now being ordered, which was offered from Transylvania. Péter Vajda also mentioned the Pedró Bakery as an example, where for every Székely bread sold, they support the construction of the gate with one hundred forints.

It will also be a great challenge technically. The finished gate will weigh approximately 11 and a half tons, emphasized Sándor Pető, master woodcarver from Transylvania.

Sándor Pető has lived in Somogy county for three years. His works so far include the current record-breaking gate, but he will also work on the Sokoró gate.

The organizers are still waiting for applications from woodcarving artists who live in the territory of one of the historic counties and would undertake to make the coat of arms of the given county from the wood material sent.

Among the main supporters of the Sokoró gate initiative are Pannonhalm farmer Ákos Pottyondy, Tamás Tömböly, head of the Győr Organization of the Hungarian Cycling Club, László Balogh, founding president of the Entrepreneurs Association of the Pannonhalm Region, Zsolt Szilágyi, treasurer of the Széchenyi István Győr Men's Club, Attila Bassák, mayor of Sokorópátka and László Székely.

On February 18, they will even organize a charity gala, where they plan to collect donations through an art auction. (The artists' offers are still waiting for the artistic bid.)

On February 19, Csaba Böjte will hold a mass in the Győr Cathedral, during which you can support the construction of the Székely gate through the donation boxes.
