On Wednesday, the Austrian police warned of Islamist terrorist attacks against churches in Vienna, citing intelligence sources.
According to the announcement posted on Twitter, the authorities have strengthened the security presence around several buildings, including churches. They also increased the number of police officers serving in Vienna, and according to police spokesman Markus Dittrich, they were equipped with bulletproof vests and assault rifles.
If there is a specific danger lurking for the population in a certain place, the Viennese police will immediately issue a warning on all channels

it is currently uncertain how long the special security measures will remain in place. Authorities also asked people not to share images of police officers on duty on social media .
Tamás Menczer, the State Secretary responsible for bilateral relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, asks Hungarians living abroad to listen to the police's information and to act with extra care and caution.
