An investigation into the "rolling dollars" was launched by the President of the State Audit Office (ÁSZ), who informed the Fidesz President of the Parliamentary Economic Committee: "there is a very strong suspicion that illegal party financing has indeed taken place and that the laws on the election campaign have been violated by the left-wing opposition parties ".

In a video sent to MTI on Friday, committee chairman Erik Bánki talked about the fact that the committee is expected to hear the president of the ÁSZ on March 27 regarding the "rolling dollars".

László Windisch, the president of the State Audit Office (ÁSZ), informed him in a letter about the status of the ÁSZ investigation related to the "rolling dollars", i.e. the illegal foreign financing of left-wing parties.

Ever since Péter Márki-Zay, the opposition's joint candidate for prime minister, "brought down the left", it came to light that "one of the most serious influence attempts of the past 30 years", that foreign organizations supported left-wing parties with 4 billion forints in the 2022 parliamentary elections campaign, he added.

New information comes out every week, "the opposition has slipped into a total spiral of lies".

At first they talked about micro-donations, but then it turned out that this was not true, because big donors supported the opposition in a big way. Then they tried to "push" the case away, but it turned out that "Gergely Karácsony's chief adviser, Dávid Korányi, tried to get these funds to Hungary through the organization he leads called Action for Democracy", so it was clearly revealed that the left-wing parties were prepared with foreign funding for the parliamentary elections, said the Fidesz father-in-law, noting that this is how they tried to influence the outcome of the domestic elections from abroad.

Erik Bánki announced that the president of the SAO had launched an investigation into the matter and informed him in his letter: "there is a strong suspicion that illegal party financing has indeed taken place and that the laws on the election campaign have been violated by the left-wing opposition parties".

Sensing the possibility of abuses, the president of the SAO turned to the tax authorities and requested information on the use of the money, because

there is a strong suspicion that abuses may have taken place in this regard as well. All of this means that "the issue of rolling dollars is a very serious matter, which is why I will initiate that the economic committee of the parliament put the report of the president of the SAO on the agenda at the next meeting on March 27"

he added.

Information is expected from László Windisch on what suspected abuses have arisen during the investigation and when the investigation will have concrete results. All this is necessary because "every Hungarian voter has the right to know how they tried to influence the Hungarian elections from abroad, what funds came from which supporters and how they were used by the left-wing parties in a prohibited way, contrary to the law, in order to change the election results”; they are influenced to an extent that does not reflect the real interests and real intentions of the voters, but the expectations of their foreign customers, said the chairman of the economic committee.

"I really hope that we will learn more about these abuses on March 27," Erik Bánki added.
