In their statement, Ukrainian civil organizations urge several European countries to stand up for the court proceedings and against the "Kremlin-inspired" Hungarian law. In their opinion, the lawsuit initiated by the European Commission is an opportunity for the member states to stop the spread of the Kremlin's ideology and rules of the game within the Union. As we wrote, the European Parliament joined the campaign against the child protection law in an extraordinary way, but the investigation of the corruption case in Brussels is still being postponed.

In addition to the European Parliament and the nine member states of the Union, Ukraine also supports the proceedings against the Hungarian Child Protection Act. the Humenonline.hu article, twelve Ukrainian NGOs have now issued a statement:

As Ukrainian NGOs, we call on the member states of the European Union to intervene in the lawsuit initiated by the European Commission against the Hungarian version of the Russian anti-propaganda law. The law propagates the destructive and murderous ideology that the Kremlin has been promoting for decades

Civil organizations see that the first seeds of these dangerous ideologies are being sown within the European Union as well. "Viktor Orbán's government introduced its own version of the anti-propaganda law in 2021. "Since then, Orbán has confused LGBTQ+ people with pedophiles and has been using the Kremlin's rules of the game to censor the country's sexual and gender minorities," they state.
