Our national football team won its first European qualifier without any problems after defeating the national team of Bulgaria by 3.0 in the Puskás Arena last night. We are quoting from the coverage of the National Sport.
/…/ Marco Rossi also did in his 51st match to gain momentum, because this time he had an unexpected move when putting together the starting team, after Thursday's 1-0 win against Estonia, almost everyone was sure that Bálint Vécsei would be in Monday 's Euro - he no longer starts in the qualifiers, compared to this, the Italian coach put him in the team this time as well.
The national team captain sensed something this time as well, the match had barely started, the midfielder of Ferencváros was in the right place at the best time after a corner on the left and passed the ball into the net from close range. After six minutes and forty-two seconds, the ball was already in the opponent's goal, and moreover, the national team remained in momentum. Dominik Szoboszlai , an exceptional footballer who was visible in every touch of the ball, could have found the net this time after his first international goal against Estonia was disallowed by Bolla Bendegúz Ádám Martin threatened with a long shot.
(In the first half) the Hungarian team played well, the players broke forward sometimes on the right and sometimes on the left wing, and if necessary, they ran the Bulgarians in the middle with small passes. Before the end of such a one-touch attack, Dominik Szoboszlai was brought down in the area of the penalty area, the Bulgarian national team captain, Mladen Krsztajics, held his head in front of the bench, he knew exactly that the Hungarian team captain was a master free-kick shooter, and this was immediately confirmed once again: the Leipzig player with amazing spring technique shot the ball into the upper left corner. In front of the home camp, the Hungarian players held each other, and Dominik Szoboszlai and Roland Sallai once again presented a rock-paper-scissors scene in the moment of goal joy, referring to the scene before the penalty shoot-out against the Estonians, which was criticized a lot - although Marco Rossi (with reasons) stated that such a "game ” he doesn't want to see him in the matches, he probably forgave this little taunt after the goal...
One thing is certain: the Bulgarians were unable to contain the Hungarian players, in the minutes before the break, the Hungarian team captain slalomed through the defenders again, and although he could have finished the action - at the end of which the ball bounced on a Bulgarian foot - Ádám Martin was in a better position and the attacker brilliantly passed the ball into the long, lower right corner with angelic calmness.
Even after the turnaround, the Hungarian national team did not play badly, but the overwhelming momentum was no longer typical at that time. Barnabás Varga from Paks, who replaced Ádám Martin . As the minutes passed, the match flattened out, there were some nice tricks and passes in the field, in front of the goal, the fate of the three points was already decided. The Bulgarians were apostates, and although Dénes Dibusz had already been coached once or twice, it was felt that they were unable to come back into the match. The fans were not particularly bothered by the less exciting game, the sector behind the goal jumped at the same time, rhythmically, at other times the fans cheered the national team captain Marco Rossi.
Loic Nego, who entered the field, almost rolled the ball, which many believed to be lost, into the goal almost from the baseline. In the last minutes of the Euro qualifier, the audience stood up to celebrate the national team, sixty thousand Hungarian football fans jumped and sang, and after seeing the performance of the national team on Monday, and especially in the first half, a full house is guaranteed next time!
The national team confidently defeated Bulgaria, which is also to be appreciated because the last time the team won in the opening European qualifier was forty years ago, in March 1983, when they beat Luxembourg 6-2 away from home. The forty-year "curse" was thus broken, but more importantly, the first round was not bad for a demonstration of strength, the way the national team played, the way Marco Rossi used tactics, is more than encouraging for the future.
The national team will next play in the European qualifiers at the beginning of summer, on June 17 in Montenegro, and three days later they will host Lithuania at home.
