Egg painting, decorating and shoeing demonstrations, folklore shows, and handicrafts are waiting for those interested in the Easter program series of the Míves Egg Museum in Zengővárkony, Baranya county, between April 2 and 10.
Between Palm Sunday and Holy Saturday, visitors can familiarize themselves with egg-decorating techniques - writing, scratching and stamping eggs, as well as decorating eggs with seeds - starting at ten in the morning, Rózsa Nienhaus, the head of the museum, told MTI, adding that the children's playhouse is waiting for them every day until Easter Monday. in the yard.
On Flower Sunday, interested parties can learn not only egg decorating techniques, but also the basics of crafting straw crafts.
On Easter Sunday, the search for male eggs starts at nine o'clock in the village, and at half past ten, as on Monday, a service is held in the village's Reformed church.
On Easter Sunday, the closing day of the eight-day program series, the Zengővárkony Folk Ensemble will march to the service dressed in folk costumes, and then the Zengővárkony Cultural Preservation Society will hold its folk dance show Easter Watering in front of the museum from half past eleven.
The museum also welcomes visitors outside of Holy Week - with the exception of Wednesday - every day between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
The unique collection of the Míves Egg Museum was opened in 2000 in the barn of the country house in Zengővárkony, the collection contains about 2,400 pieces on display and another 2,100 pieces kept in storage.
Among the special pieces of the institution's material are the so-called travel lost, Hucul patterned, scratched, Bőcsi written, waxed, tempera painted, horseshoeed, seed and straw inlayed and wire decorated eggs.
The museum is visited by more than ten thousand people every year; In addition to Hungary, the institution has also had visitors from many European countries, as well as from Australia, Africa, Canada, Japan, China, Russia and the United States.
