Hans Raucher, a journalist from Der Standard, singled out the neutralist representatives of the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) and the Social Democratic Party of Austria in a spirited opinion piece after they boycotted the video message of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky; the case concerns the Austrian public to this day.

The author, Hans Rauscher, has an amazing discussion - there are more than 2,500 comments under the article! - in his letter considered it important to describe the following in connection with Thursday's parliamentary action:

Austria is indeed a neutral country, "and the vast majority of Austrians would like it to remain so" , but meanwhile "a year ago, the security situation in Europe fundamentally changed" , after "a despot driven by thoughts of revenge ruled Russia, attacked the neighboring Ukraine", threatening Moldova and Georgia, and also "wants to bring the entire continent under its influence", but "the majority of domestic politics does not understand this change of era" (in Hungarian: Austria is a neutral country, "and the vast majority of Austrians would like it to remain so", but not Hans Rauscher - the Mandiner ed. ).

The FPÖ politicians therefore left the hall before the Ukrainian president's speech, leaving signs on their tables with the inscriptions "room for peace" and "room for neutrality",

Herbert Kickl, the leader of the FPÖ, said at his press conference that the war in Ukraine is nothing more than "the war of the USA and NATO against Russia on Ukrainian soil" , and that even the NATO member countries Hungary and Turkey are more neutral than (the NATO member) Austria.

After all this, Rauscher does not spare the Austrian people's partisans, he wrote roughly the following:

  • Turkey and Hungary " authoritarian regimes "
  • Kickl's " neutrality " is actually a pro-Russian position
  • works under Vladimir Putin .

Of course, the Russian sympathy of the FPÖ did not necessarily end with the resignation of Heinz-Christian Strache. It is memorable that the fall of the former vice-chancellor was brought about by a secretly recorded video recording, in which Strache, in the company of a fake Russian oligarch and Vienna FPÖ president Johann Gudenus, among other things, daydreams in a villa in Ibiza about buying the Freedom Party's Kronen Zeitung, Austria's largest circulation, with the money of an alleged Russian oligarch. his daily newspaper.
