The availability of the news published on the conservative portal ma7.sk on the social network has been significantly curtailed by Facebook since last fall - by around 90 percent, according to their own data, and the situation has now worsened to the point that new content posted on the site can no longer reach the portal's approximately 30,000 users. his follower.

Facebook has made the contents of the largest Hungarian news portal ma7.sk inaccessible on its own interface, the news portal announced on its website on Tuesday.

"Dear Readers! In the last five years since our portal has been in existence, Facebook, like other conservative content providers, has tried to block our activities. We wrote about this process several times on our portal, and on April 4, the process escalated to the point that our FB interface was completely blocked," wrote the editors of the news portal on the ma7 website.

Judit Molnár, editor-in-chief of the Ma7 media family, which also includes the news portal, told MTI:

Facebook has significantly reduced the availability of their news on the portal since last autumn - by about 90 percent according to their own data - and the situation has now deteriorated to the point that the portal's 30,000 or so followers cannot access the new content posted on the site at all. He added that Facebook referred to alleged violations of its guidelines in the justification sent to them, but no substantive explanation was given. Judit Molnár explained, "The most recent article nominated as violating the guidelines was an informative article about the possibilities of obtaining the stroller subsidy."

Attila Puskás, the managing director of the Pro Media Foundation, which also operates the ma7.sk news portal, told MTI: as with the previous restrictions, they are also trying to get a concrete explanation and remedy for the current complete blocking through their legal representative, and among the real reasons for Facebook's move are news portal's conservative orientation and its growing popularity.

"It is an open secret, and there are several examples of Facebook trying to reduce the availability of conservative media. I wouldn't be surprised if such an effort was behind the move that affects us," Attila Puskás stated.
