US President Joe Biden said on Monday at the opening of the traditional Easter egg rolling event at the White House in Washington that he would like to participate in at least three, four, or even five more such events, indicating that he would run for president again.

Biden, who turned 80 last year, responded to a journalist's question at the event but only repeated that he plans to run for re-election, but "they are not ready to announce it yet."

In the morning local time, the president and his wife opened the egg roll for children, a 145-year-old tradition, from the White House balcony. For this year's event, around 30,000 people are expected in the south park of the presidential residence, where the drawn families will arrive in nine shifts between 7 am and 7 pm. Various programs are offered for children at the event. Egg rolling itself is a dexterity task, the essence of which is to guide the egg along the designated track with a stick.

The main theme of this year's event is education, which was chosen by the first lady, Jill Biden, who used to be a teacher herself.
The tradition of the egg roll dates back to 1878, when then-President Rutherford B. Hayes opened the White House Garden for Easter to children who had been banned by law from the Capitol Park by the Legislature. According to tradition, the president said that anyone who wants to roll an Easter egg through the White House garden is free to do so.
