To help the victims of the earthquake in Turkey, the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts (MKE) is organizing a live charity auction for the first time in the institution's history on April 21 in the university's Barcsay hall.

For the first time, the institution, which looks back on a 150-year history, asked its lecturers, active and former students to support the charity by offering one of their works. The call received 78 student and 50 faculty works, including large-scale oil-acrylic paintings, figurative and abstract works, as well as artistic graphics and works made with various noble techniques. The donors include instructors such as Frigyes Kőnig, Géza Sallai, József Szurcsik, Zoltán Ötvös, János Kósa, Tamás Felsmann and István Erős .
The charity auction will be hosted by Antónia Bálint , and the artists of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music will participate in the concert opening the event. The buyer of the three most valuable auction lots will receive a bottle of Szenta-hegyi Cabernet Franc 2018 wine in decorative packaging as a gift, and all bidders can participate in a free wine tasting at the Takler Wine Bar in Buda.
Participation in the event is subject to registration, the organizers are waiting for applications from bidders at the email address jotekonysag@mke.hu. At the auction, you can also bid by phone.
There has been an online charity donation campaign on Sharity's website for several weeks now, from the works offered by the University of Fine Arts. On the online platform, donors can receive one of a hundred limited-edition designer graphic works as a gift until April 20.
The total amount collected at the live auction and online donation organized by the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts will be sent to the Disaster and Emergency Management Bureau of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Turkey via the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Budapest, which coordinates the local relief efforts.
