Although the Central European countries requested in a letter to end the tariff exemption for Ukrainian grain, Ursula von der Leyen and her friends continued to maintain the discounts. The consequence: Ukrainian grain dumping endangered the agriculture of the target countries. The parties involved reacted to this situation, including Hungary, by banning grain imports from Ukraine.

Slovakia also ordered a ban on the import of Ukrainian grain, but this was not justified by the unsustainability of the market situation. Samuel Vlcan , the head of the Slovak Ministry of Agriculture, announced

The background to the measure is that the Slovak Animal Health and Food Safety Authority (SVPS) found a plant protection agent in the sample that was harmful to health and banned in the European Union during an inspection of 1,500 tons of wheat from the Ukraine at the Kolárovo mill in Gúta, the Slovak public service TASR wrote. news agency with reference to the ministry's statement.

Knowing the test results

the Slovak Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development issued a decree, according to which the processing of Ukrainian grain and flour already imported into the country is strictly prohibited, as well as its inclusion in food production and feeding processes.

The Slovak ministry announced in connection with the investigation: all EU member states will be informed of its results, and all grain and flour of Ukrainian origin already in storage in the country will be subjected to a similar investigation. In connection with the provision prohibiting the use of Ukrainian grain, it was written: in the current situation, the ministry does not recommend the import of any Ukrainian grain or products made from it.

civilek.info:

It is hardly believable - or not at all - that EU decision-makers would not have suspected the danger. After all, Ukraine does not meet the strict standards required in the European Union in any other respect. What's more, the Union even lends them a helping hand for non-compliance with these regulations. Just one example: the EU supported the investment of a poultry farm that already operates in a prohibited form within the EU. In the 27 member states, the "animal welfare" conditions must be ensured, cage keeping is prohibited and we are just waiting for the poultry farmers of the member states to be obliged to provide each hen with its own color TV, where they can watch programs specially made for poultry....this is of course very poetic exaggeration, but who knows what the future holds?

The present, on the other hand, has brought grain dumping and contaminated grain, but this probably does not deter the Brussels elite from supporting Ukraine's grain exports above all else. Contaminated? So what? Unhealthy? What are we sensitive about while they are shooting over there? It is only a matter of time when infringement proceedings will be launched against Hungary (and perhaps Poland) for "boycotting the EU decision and Ukrainian grain. However, it is very likely that the Slovaks who also introduced the ban, as well as the Romanians who advocated the ban, would get away with a frown of disapproval.

Just don't let them think of imposing "mandatory solidarity consumption", that is, to swallow that frog - sorry, wheat - which is poisonous, isn't it? All out of solidarity.
