The broader homeland of our European nations suddenly found itself in an unexpected space as a result of Russian aggression. The attack on Ukraine required answers in both political and economic terms. On-the-fly sanctions were often rained down on Russia without a second thought.

We know the basic rule, measure first and then tailor. Nevertheless, the ruler did not come into hand. It is now clear that even with the unilateral help of the European Union, Ukraine cannot bring the aggressor to his knees.

To err is human, but to ignore the consequences is reckless. Forcing the nations of Europe into the Russian-Ukrainian conflict is primarily in the interest of the USA. Undoubtedly, the export of American democracy succeeded in creating a new battlefield. We Europeans feel that this is not in our interest and we do not want the escalation of the war. Due to its geographical location, the USA takes a long-lasting war more lightly, since its citizens are at a safe distance from Europe. Ukrainian and Russian people make the sacrifices.

Without a doubt, it can be stated that under international law, Russia's behavior is clearly aggression. at the same time, the elimination of the triggering conditions in the future is not only the task of Ukraine, but also of the European community. We can also see that, in addition to intervention, the EU leadership does not consider the enforcement of nationality and minority rights to be its task.

Considering that Europe stands in solidarity with Ukraine, the majority of our countries have shown their solidarity with humanitarian aid and serious arms deliveries. Our dual citizens are sacrificing their lives in the otherwise senseless war, more and more Hungarians are fleeing Transcarpathia together with their Ukrainian compatriots.

There is another side to the coin, which we perceive when examining military aspects. The transfer of weapons owned by European states caused less economic problems, but the purchase of new weapons requires a serious financial investment from our citizens, and it also affects our future standard of living.

Playing a role in NATO is our primary interest. The Hungarian government has made this clear several times. However, it must be seen that, from a military point of view, the guardianship of the USA does not strengthen our sovereignty, the preservation of European democracy based on traditions. The essence of long-term friendship and cooperation is the condition of equality. Reasonable joint decisions will only be realized in this case.

The citizens of Europe feel that the leadership of the union has left them by the wayside. They see coldly that the leaders of the EU are increasingly being accused of corruption. The cases suggest that they have become manageable. Our citizens have lost trust in their leaders, and in the process the independence of our continent is weakening.

Changes are needed in connection with the 2024 EU parliamentary elections. The principle of popular sovereignty, the primacy of the sovereignty of national states, must be elevated to a pedestal by synchronizing community interests. We have to see that many people are worried about Europe. We are strong enough not to accept a colonial role. Guardians of European culture, our indigenous people deserve protection. The diversity of our culture can always be attractive in relation to inter-continental interests.

Our representatives elected to the parliament of the union cannot be party political mercenaries. Let's take care of our geographical situation, preserve our sovereignty, practice the principle of subsidiarity, say that peace is Europe's weapon. Let us provide transport opportunities for East and West for the optimal operation of the world economy.
