István Vágó died unexpectedly, the Democratic Coalition (DK) announced on Saturday.
They wrote that the leader of the successful television show, the former most popular competition in the country, the founder of the Skeptic Society, and their colleague who worked for many years in the DK presidency "has left us here forever".
"From now on, we have to continue his fight for facts, science, reason and a free, European Hungary without him," they said.
The Democratic Coalition considers István Vágó as its own dead, the party's community, politicians, colleagues and supporters share the family's grief.
"Istvan, rest in peace!" - concluded the statement.
