The incident took place in the lobby, when the secretary of the Russian delegate, Valery Stavitsky, took the Ukrainian flag reserved for a photo shoot, and Marikovsky tore it from his hand while punching the Russian. The recording was recorded by Ukraine's ambassador to the UN, Sergei Kislych.
