The other day, I watched the play whose renovated performance at the Thália theater was banned by an agency - or something that looked like it. I have a feeling that the absurdity of the play is far outweighed by the reality…

The title of the play: A big robbery (A Behandling in Spokans). Gábor Kálomista, the theater's managing director, also accepted the challenge: "OK, let them sue, but the show will remain" ( we wrote about it here ).

The drama, the genre of which is pseudo-horror-absurd farce, is written by Martin Mcdonagh, who is well known for his film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, which swept the Oscars, and his latest work, Ghosts of the Island, which was also a worldwide success. The story is relatively simple: a psychopath (Gábor Carmichel/Gábor Csőre) - whose hand was cut off by six speeders with a train in his youth, and then the severed hand was waved back to him in farewell - publishes an ad looking for his severed body part. Two Link characters, a boy and a girl (Toby/Nándor Jámbor, Marilyn/Alexa Bakonyi) steal one such exhibited hand from the natural history museum, believing they can earn $500 with it. Then, of course, things get complicated, because the psychopath is white and the hand is black, they don't really match (subtle hint?), so Carmichel handcuffs them to the radiator. A lie saves the strange couple, that they mixed up the hands and accidentally brought the wrong one, the authentic hand stub remained at home, on top of the refrigerator.

Carmichel threatens them, then sets off to get him, and from there the story of the four continues. A lonely, alienated motel employee (Mervyn / Zoltán Tamási) who bears his fate with stupidly stoic wisdom also enters the story. Speaking with Béla Hamvas, everyone is a rather devoted character. Well, I won't tell you any more, you should watch it yourself, I really recommend it!

But why do I recommend it? Because

conflicts arise in absurd situations that draw attention to the pressing problems of our time. The fight between blacks and whites, the woke, LGBTQ, loneliness, drugs, prostitution, the mental breakdown of people - children and adults - murders, school terror, bleak family relationships... And all of this seasoned with black humor.

The dialogues are reminiscent of the characters of Tarantino and Guy Ritchie, in the crime story it is as if the worlds of the films Sin City and The Naked Gun meet each other... The rather open-mouthed "anti-heroes" often use the term nigger, negro, which the BLM fighters jump on these days.

The story of black comedy continues in reality, as if the play had left the stage. They are suing Thalia because the actor playing the grasshopper is not African-American, but a white man in a black mask. So this is the biggest problem for the representatives of the "new religion". I don't even understand why everyone has to be blackened (sorry)!?

According to the dramaturgy of Woke, Jesus was black, Anne Boleyn is also performed by a dark-skinned actress, Otello's dark mask also caused trouble, while the title role of the Little Mermaid, Ariel, is played by the colored skinned Halle Bailey at Disney, which caused an uproar according to its order and manner. social media: how can a half-fish, half-man creature breathing and singing at the bottom of the sea have black skin? Recently, Cleopatra was darkened: the pharaoh can only be considered white by racists!

In our country, the last time Gerswin: The story of Porgy and Bess "shocked" public opinion, was when Ira Gerswin, the author's brother, forbade the use of blackface technique. The stipulation was that only people of color could play the roles.

Szilveszter Ókovács came up with the saving idea of asking the singers to declare their identity as African Americans during the performance in accordance with the prompt. A bit clumsy, but an effective move!

So, history is being rewritten in the spirit of the great emancipation. The iconic figures are typically incarnated in color, preferably in a multi-cult space, while the white ones represent the bad, permanent, oppressive figures. How dare a director go so far as to mask an actor in black, since this is positive discrimination in favor of whites in the wake's values! Well, what else! Let only whites and targets of hatred remain! But who is the racist now? Who waves, with whose hand and what?

The progressives and their politicians will sanction it if LGBTQ cannot infiltrate schools, if minors cannot decide on their gender reassignment surgeries, if trans people cannot compete in women's sports, if they cannot settle in women's prisons or if there are no urinals in the women's restroom. They tend to take the bread of an entire country for something like that!

I have a feeling that the absurdity of the play is far outweighed by the reality…
