The Transcarpathian Hungarian community wants to remain in its homeland despite the war conditions. This is proven by the fact that teaching takes place in all educational institutions of the community, institutions, civil organizations and church congregations are functioning even in difficult circumstances.
The Hungarian government is doing everything in order to provide support to the Transcarpathian Hungarians even in the extremely difficult war situation, which is why it is announcing the Transcarpathian social program package this year as well - the State Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office responsible for national policy announced in a video published on his social media page.
Since its almost a decade of operation, the Subcarpathian social program package has proven to play an essential role in keeping Hungarian intellectuals in their homeland. After the outbreak of the war, this role became even more important.
The Subcarpathian social program package is the 2015 annual program of the State Secretariat for National Policy. As part of this, teachers and educational workers in Transcarpathia who work in Hungarian, doctors and health workers, journalists, media organizers, librarians, actors, entertainers and many other layers of the intelligentsia receive a one-time salary supplement.
Last year, 13,260 applications won support, of which more than 8,200 people received a one-time salary supplement, and 5,058 applications provided support for child meals.
The total amount of the tender has increased continuously in recent years, this year it is already more than HUF 2.5 billion.
