For security reasons, Slovakia will introduce temporary border controls between May 24 and June 8 at its border sections with Hungary, Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic, as well as at international airports, the National Police Headquarters (ORFK) announced on police.hu on Friday.

The communication service of the ORFK wrote on the police website that during the mentioned period it will be possible to cross the border only at designated border crossing points. They added that the Slovak authorities strive to keep the waiting time at the crossings to a minimum.

The Hungarian police recommends that travelers prepare their identification documents before the crossings concerned.

On the Hungarian-Slovak border section, between May 24 and June 8, 2023, only the border crossings listed below can be used.

Road border crossings: Rajka – Dunacsún/Cunovo (motorway), Rajka – Oroszvár/Rusovce, Vámosszabadi – Medve/Medvedov, Komárom – Révkomárom/Komárno (Monostori bridge), Komárom – Révkomárom/Komárno, Esztergom – Párkány/Stúrovo, Letkés – Ipolyszalka /Salka, Parassapuszta – Ipolyság/Sahy, Balassagyarmat – Tótgyarmat/Slovenské Darmoty, Ráros – Ráróspuszta/Ráros, Ipolytarnóc – Kalonda/Kalonda, Cered – Tajti/Tachty, Somoskőújfalu – Sátorosbánya/Siatorská Bukovinka, Bánréve – Sajólénartfalva/Král, Aggtelek – Domica /Domica, Tornanádaska – Bódvavendégi/Hostovce, Tornyosnémeti – Migléc/Milhost (I/17 road), Tornyosnémeti – Migléc/Milhost (R4 road), Abaújvár – Kenyhec/Kechnec, Hollóháza – Eskáros/Skáros, Sátoraljaújhely – Újhely/Slovenské Nové Mesto (main road, I/79), Sátoraljaújhely – Újhely/Slovenské Nové Mesto (highway), Pácin – Nagykövesd/Velky Kamenec.
Railway border crossings: Rajka – Oroszvár/ Rusovce, Komárom – Révkomárom/Komárno, Szob – Párkány/Stúrovo, Somoskőújfalu – Fülek/Filakovo, Bánréve – Sajólénártfalva/Lenartovce, Hidasnémeti – Hernádcsány/Cana.

River border crossings: Komárom – Révkomárom/Komárno, Esztergom – Párkány/Stúrovo.

In the announcement, it is advised that those planning a trip to Slovakia during the given period should find out about the opening hours of the border crossings before departure.
