According to American intelligence sources, Warsaw and the Baltic states are increasingly belligerent only at the level of words, in fact they are also getting tired of the war.

Despite the bellicose rhetoric and the demonstrative stance in favor of Ukraine, Poland and the Baltic states support Kiev's war plans less and less, according to the latest article by American journalist Seymour Hersh, reviewed by Magyar Hírlap. According to the veteran investigator's findings based on intelligence data, Warsaw is secretly trying to put pressure on Volodymyr Zelensky to end the conflict as soon as possible, but the president is adamant so far.

According to Hersh, there are two reasons for the change in Polish politics: one is the influx of Ukrainian refugees, which primarily burdens Poland and the Baltics. On the other hand, seeing the poor performance of the Russian army, Warsaw's initial fears disappeared.

According to Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) wiretapping and other data, the Polish leadership "quietly urged Zelensky to find a way to end the war—even at the cost of resignations, if necessary—and allow the process of rebuilding the nation to finally begin."

said the journalist.

So, while the Poles criticize the Hungarian government from time to time for its pro-peace policy, according to intelligence sources, they too are starting to get tired of the war that has no end for the time being. Moreover, already last year there were reports that Warsaw was preparing to skim the benefits of the Ukrainian reconstruction.

It is worth recalling that Napi.hu wrote in October 2022: according to Pekao SA bank estimates, the post-war reconstruction in neighboring Ukraine could bring a total of 190 billion zlotys to Polish companies, which is roughly 3.8 percent of the country's GDP. Warsaw also reportedly wants to have the headquarters of the agency coordinating reconstruction and related investments in Poland.
