When we think that we already understand everything and that it is not possible to increase the discriminatory aggression towards us, it turns out: of course.

the truths found in the novel The Pál Street Boys, which is a classic example from many points of view Precisely how the power becomes powerful over the seemingly weaker, so that in the end the heroism of the tragedy of the seemingly most defenseless – Ernő Nemecsek in the novel – brings about the catharsis of a true man. Yes, thinking about the unjust confiscation of glass balls - einstand - the question arises as to why we are not able to avoid trouble, no matter how many examples the history of Hungary and other nations produces.

From the perspective of centuries, it is clear that in times of decision-making constraints, instead of solving crises, we drifted into predictable tragedies.

History has often taught Hungarians to be morose, even though - not only is this seen in retrospect - the fates could have been avoided. Let's think about the challenges of the recent past, 1944, when a group of politicians ceded our country to Hitler's Germany. But the betrayal of 1956, when the Soviet tanks were called in, was no more acceptable either.

And what about the 2004 decision that fundamentally determines our current life, when we almost euphorically welcomed our entry into the big family of the European Union? Because we believed and hoped that, after so many mistakes, we were finally on the right track, because there could not be a better life situation than the friendship and alliance relationship of the West, including NATO membership.

We assumed that only and only prosperity and worthy esteem await us among friends.

It is an exaggeration to say that all Hungarians envisioned a bright future, because there were clearer visions among us who protected our country from another disappointment and voted no on the questionnaire for joining the European Union.

Did they see the future, or was it already obvious that small nations like us, which of course are "smaller" in terms of territory and population, would be the victims of sharing at the common table? It is possible that the signs were already present twenty years ago. Those who seriously read the classics of our literature, including the The Pál Street Boys , could have no doubt that for us commitment always brings the morning of later sobriety. Only then, having already been looted (downsizing the Hungarian economy), degraded to second-rate status (the application of the obvious double standard) and threatened (even promising a military occupation), will we wake up from the intoxication fueled by political stimulants.

When we think that we already understand everything and that it is not possible to increase the discriminatory aggression towards us, it turns out: of course.

The brainwashed bureaucrats banging on the tables, ignoring the constitution of the European Union, demand that the "small" who think and have an independent will be excluded from the decision-making mechanism, if they oppose the majority, the "real" democrats, i.e. the "big ” with his will. Moreover, even if they would veto in such an (illegal) situation, the verdicts would automatically become binding on them as well. Aha! One can appeal against this, knowing, of course, that what the power plans, it also implements, especially if, following the examples of the past, the internal collaborators of the countries concerned support the interests of the great powers.

So where should we, Ernők Nemecsek, hide our glass balls?

Or is it enough to trust and remain calm for the sake of it, that life will eventually rush to the aid of those who possess the truth? The difficulty of politics is always fueled by the need to make decisions, and the challenges are ageless. This is called the art of political timing: when, what, how? Because the historical challenge similar to 1944, 1956 and 2004 is knocking here again. In many respects, we rightly feel that the European Union is not our real place. Therefore, some see the alternative in a commitment to Atlanticism. Before we allow another friend who causes plenty of misunderstandings into the Carpathian basin - flying the American flag - let's do the math, because in a strategic sense we are not forced to make a decision right away. Haste would exclude the possibility of neutrality, which is also offered.

The agony of the so-called unipolar world could only be reversed in the current international situation with a major war - which would involve the partial annihilation of humanity.

So the influence of the United States on the world in its current form is becoming less and less effective, regardless of whether it is controlled by Republicans or Democrats. Moreover, the thinking and legal sensibility of politicians living overseas is well indicated by the decision of their attorney general the other day. Russian assets seized in the United States will be given to Ukraine for further use, the Attorney General stated. The Poles, politically occupied by the Americans, already followed the example of their "teacher", to put it less cynically: their new ally. The Polish prosecutor's office officially accused former German chancellor Gerhard Schröder of collaborating with the Russians, just because he dared to question the current American and Brussels directives in the Ukrainian conflict.

The example shows what it means to follow Washington's logic.

We are not far from the vision that the moment may come when the values held by the Hungarian people abroad can easily come under the hammer if we accept this type of approach.

For all these reasons, we try to ignore the fighting of the "big guys" and stay out of the line of fire as much as possible. Let's not talk about it, even if in a game where the dare wins, fortune may wink at the risk-taker.

You don't have to wait long anyway. Today's events rush through everyday life at a speed never seen before. We have entered an age when even politicians are forced not to plan for the future, but to try to remedy the catastrophic situations resulting from the absurdity of the past and present. What can be an intermediate solution? Let's reread Ferenc Molnár's The Pál Street Boys , which - make no mistake - is not only trying to show the way to young people.
