Arriving at the 47th station of the Duna Menti Tavasz, on Tuesday, May 23, the national parade of children's drama ensembles and puppet groups began on the square in front of the Csaplár Benedek Municipal Cultural Center. "We could also call the coming days the Hungarian culture day in southern Slovakia, as the children will be using the Hungarian language with a good mood and atmosphere to present the best of their knowledge," said Zoltán Hájos, mayor of Dunaszerdahely, to the groups.
This year, 29 teams will compete in the competition for amateur actors and puppeteers between May 23 and May 26.
At the opening, the atmosphere was set by the children's folk dance group Apró Csallóközi, who performed Moldavian dances. Krisztián Forró, president of the Association, and József Berényi, vice-president of Nagyszombat county, were present among the illustrious guests together with the city's leaders.
After that, Gyula Bárdos, the president of Csemadok, expressed his joy that after the epidemic, he can open this great occasion of the movement with the blessing of good weather. As he emphasized, through the army review, talents grow up who know the good of the game, excitement and life in the community, which motivates them to find their place as part of the Hungarian nation by working together in the community. "I wish that the children, who are the protagonists of the week, fill the city with artistic experiences and joy."
"We could also name the coming days as the day of Hungarian culture in southern Slovakia, as the children will present the best of their knowledge using the Hungarian language with a good mood and atmosphere"
Zoltán Hájos, mayor of Dunaszerdahely, greeted the groups. He further drew attention to the importance of the Hungarian language, which begins in a special way already during the play, helping to maintain the identity and passing it on to the next generation. He then gave the key to the city to Gyula Bárdos, who passed it on to the children.
Amidst a storm of applause, József Berényi, the vice president of Nagyszombat county, welcomed those present, who said that in his youth he also performed at the army review, where he played the role of the hedgehog, and with this thought process he wished them great enthusiasm for participation.
Ottó Takács, head of the Slovak Institute of Hungarian Culture, told Felvidék.ma,
that last year 22 groups applied, while this year 29 groups applied. He expressed his hope that next year they will reach the number of 40 people in the group, which was before the epidemic in 2019.
Two or three new groups, newly formed, also tried to catch up. In the composition of the groups, the entire Felvidék is represented, from Bratislava to Nagykapos, since in addition to the groups from Mátyusföld, Szenc and Csalloköz, there were also groups from Gömör, Kisgéres and Királyhelmec.
After the greetings, a wreath was laid on the Danube Menti Spring monument, created by György Lipcsey.
