The management of CÖF-CÖKA sent an open letter to the LIBE committee of the European Parliament, which operates with EU public funds, in which they asked Gwendoline Delbos-Corfield and Malin Björk's educational qualifications. The NGO had previously contacted the EP regarding the professional background of the Green Party politician Gwendoline Delbos-Corfield, who was granted full powers in Hungarian rule of law issues, but they did not respond. On the website of the European Greens, all that is known about Delbos-Corfield, who also condemns the Hungarians, is that he studied political science, but no education was listed next to his name, and it was also revealed that he was a practicing actor for fifteen years.

Dear Committee, dear committee members!

On behalf of the Hungarian non-profit organization Civil Solidarity Foundation (CÖF-CÖKA), we are contacting you with the following request.

On May 31, a debate on the state of the Hungarian rule of law was held in the European Parliament, and at the press conference preceding it, rapporteur Gwendoline Delbos-Corfield and shadow rapporteur Malin Björk reported on how they see the state of the rule of law in Hungary.

According to our position - which we have maintained since our unanswered request last year - such a job presupposes, among other things, thorough theoretical and practical knowledge of law and political science, and based on this, we looked into whether the rapporteurs' education qualifies the representatives to carry out such a huge job, but to our honest astonishment we did not find any biographical information on the website of the European Parliament, either in English or in Hungarian, regarding Gwendoline Delbos-Corfield or Malin Björk. Regarding the former, we only found political science studies and 15 years of acting experience on the website of the European Greens.

Since we can agree that politicians carrying out such a significant task that requires serious expertise are expected to make public their detailed resumes including their qualifications, we therefore ask the Honorable Committee to please send us the resume data for the relevant member and alternate member out of turn.

Budapest, June 6, 2023.

Sincerely:

Management of CÖF-CÖKA
