Since 2011, the traditional holiday brought to life by the Magyar Turán Foundation has been commemorating the greatest, history-shaping ancestors of the Hungarian nation. This year, this event will also be organized in Transylvania.

The Day of the Ancestors is an opportunity to honor the brightest chapters of the Hungarians' own glorious history, the existence of the Hun Empire in Europe, the conquest, the Battle of Bratislava, the organizer points out.

"Following the example of the motherland, we have decided that after several decades of lethargy and disunity, we will now tear down the walls of indifference together and realize the Day of Transylvanian Ancestors with broad cooperation! Our goal is that from now on every year, also in Transylvania, the Hungarians of the Carpathian Basin will be able to celebrate together with dignity, where the Hungarian parts of the nation will jointly remember their greatest common ancestors, Grand Duke Atilla the Hun, Grand Duke Álmos, Chief Árpád and also the ancestors of their own nations and families," the organizer, Unitarian minister Albert Kozma.

The first Transylvanian Ancestors Day is organized between July 7th and 9th at the border of the village of Bölön in Kovászna County.

"This joint holiday can be another important milestone of Transylvanian and all-Hungarian unity, the worthy implementation of which requires extensive cooperation, and for which we are waiting for our ready-to-do brothers," said Albert Kozma, who said that the venue of the event is a 67-hectare pasture, where the organizers expect around 10,000 visitors.

On the occasion of the Transylvanian Ancestors' Day, a whole range of the best Hungarian tradition preservation teams take part in the realization of the holiday. Military tradition keepers, horsemen, archers, traditional sportsmen, craftsmen, dancers and musicians coming from all over Transylvania and the Carpathian Basin will make the holiday unforgettable together.
