The adoption of the EU migration pact also provoked a raucous reaction in Poland. "We will not give in to forced resettlement," declared Prime Minister Morawiecki, then added: Poland opposes human traffickers dictating EU regulations, reports Polskie Radio.
Radosław Fogiel (PiS), chairman of the Sejm's Foreign Affairs Committee, said that in order to circumvent the rules - to prevent the veto - the decision was made at a meeting of EU interior ministers, where full consensus is not required.
This is also an example of how the EU institutions try to use technical tricks to circumvent the rights of sovereign countries
he said.
According to Radosław Fogiel, we need more conservative governments in Europe
He added:
Poland argued that this issue should be decided at the EU summit, where we have the right of veto. This is also an example of how EU institutions try to use technical tricks to circumvent the rights of sovereign countries. It is strange to come to such a decision in a situation where Poland has accepted millions of refugees. I am not talking about economic migrants, but real war refugees from Ukraine. This is somehow completely ignored in Brussels.”
As we wrote, the European Parliament adopted a new migration package on Thursday, which aims, among other things, to curb illegal migration and to reduce the movement of immigrants between EU borders.
The pact makes the reception of asylum seekers mandatory, and in the event of non-compliance, it entails serious penalties.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki emphasized:
their stance on migrants remains unchanged.
We accepted millions of refugees with a true heart during a real military conflict. We demonstrated the same efficiency and effectiveness in managing the migration crisis on the eastern border. As long as Law and Justice (PiS) is in power in Poland, we will not allow human traffickers to dictate the shaping of EU regulations. We support the closing of borders, including the southern border. The PiS government supports peace, security and common sense. If anyone wants to drive themselves into socialist madness, do so, but we will ensure the peace and security of the Poles
he said. The Polish Prime Minister also highlighted:
before, they were in the minority on asylum issues, only the Czechs and the Hungarians were of the same opinion, but they still managed to enforce the common position.
Former Prime Minister Beata Szydło believes that the migration pact raises many questions that are crucial for the security and financial situation of the member states, and such decisions have always been made by heads of government. It highlights:
on the other hand, the migration pact was adopted in its entirety outside the European Council, at a ministerial meeting, where there is no right of veto, and decision-making takes place according to the qualified majority principle.
Poland opposes such an EU decision-making orientation in such matters, which does not allow the right of veto
he stated.
State Secretary of Justice Sebastian Kaleta drew attention to the fact that the quota system
It was adopted without the approval of Poland, Hungary, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Malta.
