Maybe after a while someone doesn't act in theater or movies anymore. But he himself will forever remain an actor who always wants to say something," explains Gyula Bodrogi. The interview was made in the Brauch Castle in Rákkesztúr on the set of the We Are Killing Today .

For the sake of a new crime-comedy, the biggest Hungarian acting legends are once again in front of the camera. A mysterious death in an actor's home - this is the basic theme of the We're Killing Today ", which started filming a few days ago. The work that evokes the style of Agatha Christie is written by Norbert Köbli as screenwriter, Péter Fazakas as director, and András Kern plays the main role. Spectators can also expect a real star parade:

Judit Pogány, Róbert Koltai, Gyula Bodrogi and Tamás Jordán also appear on the screen.

Filming began in the last days of May and is expected to last until the end of July; its premiere is expected in February 2024. The scenes of the film are shot in a special location, in the Brauch Castle in Rákkesztur and its garden. Gyula Bodrogi plays the character of Happy György.

He shoots with an illustrious company, and moreover in a picturesque environment. What did you say about the invitation?

I was very happy with it at the very beginning, when I didn't even know the script, they just told me which actors would be in the movie. Then when it turned out that the story was also about us, it was a special joy.

According to the label of Tonight We Kill, it is a crime-comedy. An interesting combination. How do you move in this dual genre?

Crime-comedy is like saying it's black and white. Two quite different genres. In this case, there are tragic and comical situations, but there are also tragicomic ones. So this little confrontation fits in. The peculiarity of the crime genre is that it requires me not to know certain things ahead of time. Comedy, on the other hand, is all about understanding the story and the jokes, otherwise I can't laugh. In this movie, old actors play old actors, but the whole thing is very youthful and cheerful. In this way, these two things will easily go together: you will be able to laugh and get excited.

Is it a challenge to get through the filming days at such an age?

An actor is an actor for the rest of his life.

It can't be otherwise. You have to believe! Maybe after a while someone doesn't act in the theater anymore, or maybe not even in the movies. But he himself will forever remain an actor who always wants to say something.

Norbert Köbli, the film's screenwriter, put it this way: "I thought about how unique it would be to have a crime story set in such a closed space, where the suspects are all actors, i.e. people who perfected the art of lying with their life's work. How difficult it would be to find the culprit among them.” That's a high ball, isn't it?

You may see it that way. I do not consider the word lying to be legitimate; we don't lie.

To make it clear, I am uncle Kovács first, and then I say uncle Kovács' nonsense. It's not the other way around that I'm going to say stupid things first. No! We first own a character, only then do we think like the character. If I decide that I am now a red poppy, then I first become a red poppy, and only then say that my leaves are yellow. Do you understand?

Browsing the creative team, I must admit, I was very happy that such people could finally work together. Wouldn't it be nice to always be like this? Without any controversy?

No, of course not.

Do we need disagreements?

Naturally. Of course, I know, it would be really special if everyone always stood in front of each other and only said good things to each other: I love you very much because you are beautiful. But life is not like that. And we, actors, express life.

We are not life, but we are like life.

A very big difference. Actors show the parts of life that are interesting, special, and exciting. This is very important! After all, the spectator - without whom there is no theater - sits in order to see something that he may have once thought or felt, but could not yet explain to himself.

Can we learn anything about his character?

Basically, the kind of actor who is a bit more of an actor than he should be. If he sings, he sings a lot, if he wants to say something, he says it a lot. So maybe he didn't succeed in acting as much, so there's a bit more acting in his acting.
