This year, for the sixteenth time, the Temple Garden Evenings will be organized on a civil initiative in the garden of the Basilica of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Máriaremet. At the open-air altar designed by Imre Makovecz, a series of charity programs for the benefit of the basilica will be held on three consecutive Saturdays from July 8 to 22.

The event series Temple Garden Evenings in Máriaremet is a civic initiative, dreamed up in 2005 by Sándor Bődey and his wife, Katalin Bődey, citizens of Pesthidegkút. The event is a charity event for the benefit of the church. The performances are free, the artists support the basilica with their performances and the visitors with their donations.

Past performers

The story began in 2005, with the performance of the Kormorán group in the churchyard, where thousands of people listened to the concert despite the pouring rain. Katalin Schmittné Makray, who took a significant role in this year's restart of the event , said that this was a significant event in the life of the local community, as a member of which she wanted to contribute to the enrichment of the community. As he said, it is important for people to realize how they can be useful to others, which is why he and his colleagues undertook the joyful and responsible task of restarting the Temple Garden evenings.

Among the performers of the event so far are, among others, Ákos, Balázs Fecó, András Berecz, the Csík Orchestra, Marcell Jankovics, Erika Miklósa, Eszter Nagy-Kálózy and Péter Rudolf, Gábor Presser, Andrea Rost, György Vukán. The main patron of the evenings is Mihály Varga, president of the Civic Culture Foundation.

In case of bad weather, the program will be held in the church.
