You can vote for which is the most beautiful forest in Hungary until July 16.
They are looking for Hungary's most popular forest hiking spot and natural treasure in a game launched on the Facebook page of the Ministry of Agriculture. During the game, one state forest farm was presented every week and 8 related locations were shared from their territory, for which you can vote.
The state forestry enterprises participating in the competition: Bakonyerdő Zrt., Budapesti Erdőgazdaság Zrt., Dalerd Zrt., Egererdő Zrt., Északerdő Zrt., Gemenc Zrt., Gyulaj Zrt., Ipoly Erdő Zrt., Kaeg Zrt., Kefag Zrt., Kaszó Zrt., Mecsekerdő Zrt., Nefag Zrt., Nyírerdő Zrt., Pilisi Parkerdő Zrt., Sefag Zrt., Szombathelyi Forestry Zrt., Taeg Zrt., Vadex Zrt., Verga Zrt., Vértes Forest Zrt., Zalaerdő Zrt.
In Hungary, state-owned forestry farms manage more than one million hectares of forest, which is of strategic importance for the country's environmental status, climate protection objectives and the well-being of the population.
The most important task of the 21 companies is the preservation and sustainable utilization of state forest assets. Within the framework of this, care is being taken not only in the forests of the capital region, but in all parts of the country to renew and develop networked forest accommodations, rest areas, and eco-tourism centers.
Hikers can currently use a network of more than 11,000 kilometers of marked tourist trails in the state forests. In addition, around 1,200 kilometers of cycling and nearly 400 kilometers of horse-riding forest roads await those looking for opportunities to relax.
The state-owned forestry company group spends at least 2 billion forints annually on active nature conservation tasks, and another 4 billion forints on maintaining elements of the ecotourism network.
