The municipality of Csíkszentmárton filed a criminal complaint with the police, and also notified the National Office of the Cult of Heroes (ONCE), which is responsible for military cemeteries in Romania, of the new crucifixion in Úzvölgy.

Mayor Sándor Birtalan announced that, as the owner of the area administratively belonging to them, they filed a criminal complaint with the Romanian police on July 10 against Mihai Tirnoveanu and his followers. In it, they described the new crucifixion and desecration of the cemetery that took place on Saturday, July 8, and requested that the case be investigated and that the perpetrators be held criminally responsible. They also reminded that the action of the Nation's Road (Calea Neamului) organization was planned and organized on social media.

On Thursday, Mihai Tirnoveanu reported on his social media page that representatives of Calea Neamului and the Orthodox Brotherhood (Fratia Ortodoxa), which also participated in the new crucifixion, took part in an interrogation at the Romanian Ministry of Defense during the day. He wrote that "the talks were positive".

"We are starting the procedure for the legalization of the 150 wooden crosses and the large memorial cross erected in the international military cemetery in Úzvölgy," Tirnoveanu wrote. The ministry did not release any information about the case.

Cluj-Napoca lawyer Júlia Kis, who provided the legal representation of the municipality of Csíkszentmárton in cooperation with the Mikó Imre Legal Advocacy Service (MIJSZ) in the case of the placing of the former concrete crosses, told the Maszol.ro news portal on Thursday that: in this case, there is no need for a lawsuit or a court decision that would order the demolition.

He recalled that in 2019 the municipality of Dormánfalva (Darmanesti) issued administrative documents, on the basis of which the military cemetery was placed in the public property of the Moldavian city, it was registered as a plot of land, a building permit was issued, and the procedures had to be challenged through litigation.

According to Júlia Kis, in this case it is an arbitrary action, which was not preceded by the issuance of any administrative document that would at least apparently legitimize what happened.

The organizers and participants committed several violations of the rules for which they can be held responsible and punished based on Act No. 1991/50. According to the lawyer, the results achieved so far in the Romanian courts can also help the people of Csíkszentmárton to settle the situation.

On Saturday, July 8, supporters of the Romanian organization Calea Neamului, the Way of the Nation, set up 150 wooden crosses in the international military cemetery to replace the concrete crosses that were removed on June 29. Next to the smaller crosses tied with ribbons in the Romanian national color, a larger one and a flag pole were displayed, the latter with the Romanian flag.
