On Friday morning, a stabbing took place in a church center in the city of Leiden in the Netherlands, three people were seriously injured, and the perpetrator fled the scene, the Hague police said.

According to the NL Times news portal, the attack took place around 10:30 in the city's diaconia center, which hosts church humanitarian projects. Several auxiliary organizations operate in this church institution, according to their website, they specialize in helping refugees and the homeless, among other things.

According to the records, the first report to the ambulance service was made at 9:38 a.m. Two helicopters and several ambulances arrived at the scene. According to eyewitnesses, two police helicopters were also circling the area.

Police are looking for a dark-skinned man with short hair and a beard, according to a report posted on Burgernet, a public notification system. The perpetrator suffered a head injury. Authorities urged anyone who sees the man to call the police immediately and not to approach him.

According to the news portal Omroep West, the victims are workers of the aid center - paid employees, volunteers. The authorities do not yet know what led to the stabbing.
