Before Saturday's Pride parade in Budapest, the embassies of the United States, Germany and 36 other countries called on the Hungarian government to protect the rights of LGBTQ people and repeal laws that discriminate against them.
The Orbán government passed the law in 2021, which prohibits the display and promotion of homosexuality among those under the age of 18. This law was criticized by rights groups and the European Union.

We are concerned about the legislation and political rhetoric, including in Hungary,
which are contrary to the principles of non-discrimination, international human rights laws and human dignity and contribute to the stigmatization of the LGBTQI+ community," they write. They stress the "need" for leaders and governments to "respect and protect the rights of LGBTQI+ individuals and communities".
They called for the repeal of laws

The European Commission previously appealed to the Court of Justice of the European Union over the 2021 law, which Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, called a shame, even though the purpose of the legislation is to protect children and not to discriminate against the LGBT community.
Many left-wing parties and politicians join the great pride march
According to the report on Budapest Pride's website, the procession starts around three o'clock from the green area in front of the Vajdahunyad castle, and returns to the Liget around five in the afternoon along the route Andrássy út – Oktogon – Teréz körút – Király utca – Felsőerdősor – Andrássy út – Hősök tere.
During the march, several left-wing parties - such as the MSZP, Momentum, Párbeszéd and the Hungarian Two-Tailed Dog Párt - will march with trucks, which will play music that can be classified into different genres.
