Sunday was the hottest day of the year so far: 38.1 degrees Celsius was registered in Derekegyháza, the National Meteorological Service wrote on its Facebook page on Monday.
On Sunday, it was clear or partly cloudy, sunny weather, the maximum temperature was between 31 and 38 degrees.
The 38.1 degrees measured at Derekegyháza is the new peak this summer.
Prepare for similar heat on Monday as well, the highest degree of warning is in effect in the southern counties due to the high average temperature, which in that region may rise above 29 degrees Celsius.
